With the right techniques, we can keep the stressors within our lives from impacting our health. Keep reading to learn how to harness your chi and use this chi power to empower your life!

What Is Chi Energy?

Chi, or qi energy (pronounced "chee"), is the life force that flows through all living things. In Chinese, this word translates to "breath," "air," or “energy”.

Western cultures have also referred to chi as "electromagnetic" or "bioenergy."

Though this life energy is invisible, it infuses our entire universe.

It can revitalize us and prepare us to challenge negative forces.

Those of us who know how to harness chi energy also have a strong life force. This vitality improves our quality of life, stamina, confidence, and the positive energies that fill our environment.

Those of us with a weak chi have difficulty resisting sources of negativity. These negative energies can impact our health, happiness, and overall life.

As we breathe, we transform air into chi, giving it physical form. This energy becomes a part of us in our blood, bones, and skin. Our vital organs then use this energy to link the mind, body, and spirit.

As chi energy reaches our brains, it impacts our dreams, emotions, and thoughts as well. In that regard, chi also exists beyond our physical bodies.

This creates a natural rhythm throughout our bodies centered around the qi energy we breathe in and out each day.

Learning how to master chi energy and circulate our chi will eliminate blocks and give our life balance. Pets even benefit from energy healing as well, relieving their negative emotions or stress.

How To Harness Your Chi & Take Control

With proper practice, we can learn to tap into and cultivate our chi energy.

When our chi isn't able to circulate throughout our bodies, the blockage can cause disease, pain, and fatigue. It's therefore important to enhance your chi and help it flow without resistance.

Our chi energy flows through pathways in the body. These 12 meridians are each associated with one of our essential organs. This can include the heart, lungs, stomach, and bladder.

Neglect, trauma, and heightened emotions can cause blockages. Again, these blockages cause us to feel our energy deplete or cause diseases to take form. However, routine chi energy exercises can keep these blockages from forming in the first place.

In order to improve the quality and flow of our chi, you need to learn how to harness your chi and tap into this power first.

1. Acupuncture

Originating in China, acupuncture is the practice of placing needles against specific points across the body. This method is over a thousand years old and is used to break up blockages where your chi is meant to flow naturally.

There are other methods of bodywork to improve our chi energy flow.

Shiatsu massages originated in Japan, but the method itself is based on Chinese and Western medical practices. Using the fingers, thumbs, and palms, this massage therapy promotes energy flow throughout the body, just like acupuncture.

In addition to helping people relax, shiatsu massages also relieve stress and pain.

Unlike traditional massages, shiatsu focuses on the internal energy system. Shiatsu massages are able to combine acupressure and assisted-stretching techniques to balance energy flow throughout the body.

Once energy blockages are removed, your chi can again flow throughout the 12 meridians of your body to restore this balance.

2. Tai Chi

Also referred to as "moving meditation", tai chi is a series of exercises focused on breathing and posture. Using slow, low-impact movements, tai chi improves balance and circulation to create, control, and restore your chi.

Tai chi also improves posture and muscle control. The graceful, deliberate steps can help strengthen your core, arms, legs, glutes, and back.

Using these movements, you can improve your chi's energy flow and avoid blockages.

Try out these tai chi energy exercises to find and learn how to harness your chi.

3. Yoga

Like tai chi, yoga is another exercise method that can help you improve and control your chi.

In yoga philosophy, chi is also known as prana.

Yoga helps improve your body's overall circulation as well as your chi. As you hold certain yoga poses, you can accumulate your chi, causing a blockage.

When you release the pose, you also release the blockage, allowing your chi to circulate properly again. These exercises keep unhealthy blockages throughout your meridians from occurring.

In addition to helping us harness our chi, yoga also helps reduce stress levels and improve our flexibility. Like tai chi, it also helps improve balance.

Plus, yoga helps us relax and improves our sleep, which helps reduce the cause of chi blockages within our bodies.

4. Meditation

Experience the balance of mind and body with regular meditation.

Learning how to empty our thoughts and relax is a useful skill in our daily lives. As a result, you can concentrate on cultivating your chi instead of holding onto negative energies.

Dantian (abdominal) breathing meditation involves sitting back in a chair and focusing as each breath enters and leaves the body. Focus on your lower abdomen and how it feels with each breath.

This allows you to relax and build awareness of your body and chi. This method also allows us to control the movement of our chi, improving the overall flow.

As you develop this skill, you can also improve your day-to-day focus. This, in turn, helps reduce stress, which can cause chi blockages in the first place.

5. Breathing Exercises

Many of these chi energy exercises are rooted in our breathing. Try this as a focused breathing exercise to tap into your chi:

  • Find a comfortable position. You can lie back, stand, or sit.

  • Inhale through your nose. As you exhale through your mouth, extend the breath for as long as possible.

  • When your body naturally inhales again, focus on the rush of air through your nose.

  • Open your mouth and release that air.

  • This exercise will help you gain control over your breathing. As you complete these other chi exercises, don't forget the importance of your breathing and its connection to the energy in your body.

Chi Energy Exercises

A few chi kung exercises that you can do include:

The Wu Qi Posture

Stand with your feet positioned beneath your shoulders. Bend the knees and keep your lower back straight. As you hold the position, relax and take slow, deep breaths.

The Opening Movement

Starting from the wu chi posture, turn your palms to face the floor and bend your knees, sinking deeper into the ground. Keep the elbows open, away from the ribcage, and toes positioned beyond your knees.

As you slowly straighten your legs, raise your arms to shoulder height. Then, reverse this movement, so you're back at the start.

Here are a few chi kung exercises you can even do at work:

Here is a simple but very powerful qigong movement you can do almost anywhere.

6. Qigong

Like tai chi, qigong (also called chi kung) is an ancient Chinese holistic system that uses a series of movements, meditations, and breathing techniques to encourage the flow of our body's natural chi.

Harnessing Your Chi Power

Now that you know how to use chi energy, it's time to put it to work! As you practice the previously mentioned exercises, it will become easier to harness and use your chi.

Build the chi within your body, then focus on where you want it to flow. Once you're connected with your body's chi, you can direct it and accomplish specific goals. However, this focus does take practice, discipline, and time.

This can include deep meditation to accomplish your desires, or directing your chi to heal.

Michael, I just wanted to write to you about tonight’s healing. The first 35 minutes I didn’t notice anything and then I started noticing that my chakras started opening up one by one all the way up then I started feeling this great energy in my body from the opening of my chakras.

When we talked yesterday I told you that I had what I considered a frozen shoulder on my left shoulder and I have had no luck with unfreezing it. I had the same with my right shoulder some time ago, but I was able to unfreeze it through exercise, which took at lot of time and work and a lot of pain. A bone popped back in, in my upper left arm during the healing and I am noticing a bigger range of movement with this arm now and not so much pain, which is a great relief.

I have noticed much more ease in my body over all, and I feel much lighter.I keep noticing new things the longer I sit with this most wonderful healing. My hands aren’t as stiff as they have been. It’s funny how as you age, you don’t notice how stiff you are becoming. I feel like a kid again, with so much more flexibility than I remember having in a great many years.

I could feel waves of energies pouring out of my hands. My lungs are feeling much better to right now, the real test will be tonight, it will be great if I can sleep all the way through the night without having any problems. I am in a place of peace and overall relaxation while I am writing you that I am so grateful for. I can’t wait to see how this changes as we go along. I want to thank you so very much for this great opportunity in healing. Thank you Michael for blessing me with your most magnificent healings

Michael, I am so excited right now, I had to email you and share with you this wonderful and profound experiences I felt this evening. I was casually watching a movie and around 10:20 or so I began feeling tingling sensations and a sudden surge of energy around my feet. I didn’t pay much attention at first because I was watching the movie. But the feelings and sensations grew stronger and stronger.

The energy slowly moved up my body and I began to feel as though I was in a vortex of energy. I actually felt as though my whole being was literally moving around in a circular motion; as waves of energy were penetrating thru me and around me.The intenseness of the energy was so strong I truly felt paralyzed, I couldn’t move. I closed my eyes tightly and began to breathe deeply and allow the energy to flow throughout my body.

I continued to bask in the glorious feelings. My hands and fingers began to vibrate and pulsate rhythmically. I was overwhelmed by the intense rhythmic vibrations and sensations (as a drum beat). I know that detoxification process has begun, my organs began eliminating the toxins from my body immediately.I am in a state of euphoria. A thousand thank you’s Michael for the energy healing work that you do. I look forward to the following weeks. If this is the start of the detox process, I think the coming weeks will feel like I’m on a roller coaster ride. Many blessings to you Michael. Please feel free to share this with the Energy Mailing List. I know there will be more to share.

Michael, The first session I could feel the energy moving into my system about 24hours before the scheduled time. It was like a sense of great possibility. By this I don’t mean hope because this would indicate that things would hopefully change someday but I mean something happening in the here and now that would also alter the future.

The evening of the session was more physical although I continued to feel nearly giddy with possibility. The physical aspect of it was that I felt warmth in my lower back and tailbone where I have had an injury. The warmth radiated out and seemed to warm muscles as well. It was very pleasant and comforting.

For the next couple of days I felt like I was trying to integrate this new energy and my emotions were on a bit of a rollercoaster. I would feel a sense of the possible followed by doubting that anything could ever change. The second session I didn’t feel move in until about the scheduled time. I felt very tired and emotional and continued to explore my emotions for the better part of the week. Grief and disappointment came up a number of times and so did the concept of Universal love.

The third session all of the energy shifts seemed to become more solid. I felt the energy move in again about 24 hours before the scheduled time. This time it was more of a sense of joy and clarity. I felt like I was more in my body and that a larger part of my soul was being integrated. Physically, I am prone to ear aches and sinus headaches and I had both the night of the session. I woke up the next morning without the ear ache and such a minor twinge of a headache that it was barely discernible.

As time progresses my sinus troubles seem to be clearing more and more.I also have had chronic fatigue, IBS, joint pain, body aches, anxiety and debilitating levels of fear. All of these are dramatically better. Emotionally, I still have moments of doubt where I’m afraid it will all come back but the majority of the time I feel joy, creativity and enthusiasm. My passion for life seems to have returned and upsetting moments seem to come in and move out more gracefully. I can’t wait for the final session. Thank you
